Beginning in September 2017, Gilmour Academy, a coeducational, independent and Catholic school in Gates Mills, will open a French school on its Lower School (Toddler-Grade 6) campus.
The French-American Chamber of Commerce of Northern Ohio is pleased to inform you that a French school is opening in the Cleveland area this fall at Gilmour Academy. Saint-Gobain, the world's largest building materials company, saw the need for a French school in Cleveland for its French expatriate employees and their children. The FACC and its affiliated FACC Ohio Educational and Cultural Foundation accepted the challenge to make this possible. Thanks to our board members, Larry Nowak and Josh Knerly, for their help.
Beginning in September 2017, Gilmour Academy, a coeducational, independent and Catholic school in Gates Mills, will open a French school on its Lower School (Toddler-Grade 6) campus. Gilmour was founded in 1946 by the Congregation of Holy Cross, whose roots trace back to Le Mans, France.
The French school will be staffed by native French-certified teachers who will use the French curriculum followed by the internationally respected French state educational system. Significant portions of the program will be taught exclusively in French.
The French school will be a part of Gilmour's Lower School, and will be an optional extended pull-out program within the school day. French school students will participate in the Academy's curriculum in addition to their French instruction.
With small class sizes, Gilmour's personalized approach to instruction centers on educating the mind while empowering the heart of every student. Along with the academic opportunities at Gilmour, French School students may participate in the variety of athletic, arts, music and extracurricular opportunities offered by Gilmour Academy. This incredible opportunity melds the finest elements of the U.S. and French educational systems, allowing the highest quality French language instruction within one of the most prestigious private schools in the area.
When the program launches in September, it will be for students in grades 1-6. However, it can expand based on the level of interest from both the French-speaking communities in Northeast Ohio and qualified children from outside the native French-speaking communities.
Gilmour Academy will be hosting an informal informational meeting on Tuesday, January 31 at 7pm in the Tudor House (34001 Cedar Road Gates Mills, OH 44040).
